What we’re asking

Get started at Dong Son

Fluent in Dutch and English. Thai or Burmese is a nice bonus

Knowledge and skills of Thai dishes or willing to learn this within the foreseeable future so that we can inform customers

Able to take orders (by telephone), operate the cash register and pack and deliver completed dishes

Able to support the kitchen at peak times with cutting and filling vegetables

Aware of allergens and dietary preferences in the dishes that we serve to our customers

Always in a good mood behind the counter. Customer satisfaction is actually our number 1 priority

We do not do delivery in order to focus on what is really important: the quality of the food. For us it’s all about creating the most tasty Thai dishes with fresh ingredients. A working day at Dong Son

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Arrival and start:

Upon arrival at 2:00 PM, put on your work clothes and start cooking the rice and refilling sauces, peanuts and packaging materials. You then continue cleaning the waiting area. All nooks and crannies are cleaned, the floor is swept and mopped before the bar is cleaned. You perform a quick check of the toilets and make sure everything is in order before opening.

3:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Cut and prepare

As a counter employee you also help the kitchen with the preparations for the day. Depending on what is available, you help cut vegetables and refill them. Make sure that you are always aware of customers who walk in to help them in a timely manner.

5:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Rush hour in the kitchen:
The phone keeps ringing, people are waiting in line to order while you quickly cook rice. To illustrate: during rush hour a lot is demanded of you and it is important to work quickly and efficiently. Knowledge of the dishes and customer service are an essential part of this position. But don’t worry! We have extremely nice customers.

9:00 PM – 10:00 PM | Time to clean up:
The last orders come in and you help clean up the counter. Have you finished cleaning up the front? Then go into the kitchen and help with what still needs to be done. Washing dishes, sweeping or mopping? You are happy to help you as this ensures everybody gets to get home faster.
